Hope of Peace

An old friend took his own life yesterday. As the shrapnel of his loss ricochets around his family and friends, it makes me think; there, but for the grace of God, go all of us.

I wish him the peace that so eluded him in this life. I hope he now feels safe.

I remembered this Seamus Heaney poem called The Rescue, it made me think of all of those who tried so hard to save him.

In the drifts of sleep I came upon you
Buried to your waist in snow.
You reached your arms out: I came to
Like water in a dream of thaw.

Safe journey home.

The most confusing of fates to befall someone you know.

Impossible to get your head around.

Just so sad.

It is indeed impossible to get your head around. I am hopeful that he is now at peace.

Although the world is all the sadder for his passing, it is also all the richer because he lived.
